beep beep be-hiss-eep beep b-hisss-p....
Shouldn't the hiss fall on the second beep?
bee-hiss-p beep beep hiss-p beep...
Or not...
As if the constant, shrill beeps of the EKG weren't enough of a harassment to her broken form, the irregular hissing of what she cold only assume to be an air pump was drivng her both insane and awake.
And really, she wished it wouldn't.
As her senses came back, one by one, so too did an excrutiating amount of pain which seemed to center around her abdomen. She inhaled sharply out of insinct, disrupting the inconsistant hisses that had been filling her lungs in the meantime. The irregular rush of air made her tense up and cough, causing her stiff joints to curl, and the rest of her body scream in pain.
She rolled off her back, still coughing, trying desparately to get away from whatever was forcing her to inhale. The EKG screamed in alarm. Her legs brushed against something beneath the covers, and she stopped paniking and snapped her eyes open in mild horror as she finally identified it.
She shuddered at the thought of the catheter, but only for a moment as, once again, air was forced into her unwilling lungs. She finally managed to sync her own instinct to breathe with the pump, but now her mind shifted back to the state of her body and the pain that came with it.
Her tense muscles tightened and she curled her thin form around itself . If she were thinking rationally, she'd know that even moving would only make it all worse, but she wasn't.
She was lost.
She was scared.
She was in pain.
And where was her baby?
"....tobias..."
::Raziel sat in the Supreme Chairman's seat of the Council Meeting Chamber in Aprillus One. It had been so long since he had last used it as the seat of his power, and now, it was back. Not only had he lost Mendel, but he had lost his home, his throne, and the one secure location he and Kazée had. His fingers were laced, elbows on the table in front of him. The room was darkened, only the faintest of lights being illuminated in the center of the room. Wagner filled the room as he sat and pondered::
"Goddamn. Just goddamn. The bastards. All of them. How could I let this happen? Am I really fit to rule?" he thought to himself, letting out a sigh as he did so.
::The music was over-powering, and probably causing some commotion with his subordiates in Governmental Affairs. The door was locked though, just to prevent anyone from coming in. Raziel closed his eyes, and leaned his forehead against his hands. The failure weighed heavily on his shoulders, along with the ruling of his nation. It always seemed that OMNI and Orb were two steps ahead::
"This disgusts me," he muttered to himself, as he stood out of the chair, and looked at it.
::Raziel kicked the chair back, letting it slam against the floor. He then walked over to the various statuettes that were set up in the council room, and began throwing them to the ground. Each one crashed loudly, just over the volume of the music, and breaking against the marble floors. Raziel growled, and stared at the mess::
"I hate them... I hate them all. How dare they make me question my own rulership. Fucking Naturals, and those traitourous dogs in Orb. I hate them..."
The pain, obviously, had shocked he back into sleep, for the next time she was aware of herself, she was lying on her back again. The counfounded hiss was gone, thank God, although the shrill beeping of the EKG remained.
Her whole body still ached. It wasn't like the stabbing pain from before; now it was a dull fire that was spread along her body, painful, but ambient.
Her pale green eyes cracked themselves open to glance around the room. The lights were off; nighttime. To both the left of her, machines towered over the bed, shadows adding immaterial girth to their structure. To the right was simply a wall. A display screen was in the middle, lined up with her lower torso. It glowed softly, displaying what looked to be her vitals.
Electric green orbs traveled away from the scenery and down to her own body. Her right arm was covered along with most of her body. Her left arm remained exposed, drips of blood, sustainance and perhaps a few drugs that the nursing staff had faith would work - either to keep her under or to ward off pain...both of which seemed to be failing.
She wanted to sit up, but her body refused. She swore mentally, and decided to take it slow...
Fifteen minutes later, her left leg had moved about half an inch to the right....
To once again be met with the catheter.
SHe opened her mouth to sigh but found she couldn't. Something pressed gently on her nose and the bottom of her chin. Weary eyes looked down, crosseyed, and met with the semi-opaque plastic of a mask.
At least it didn't try to suffocate her this time.
Still didnt answer where the hell she was, though, and the nurse button, as was her luck, was a few, damnable inches out of her grasp.
::Raziel stared at his handiwork, the remains of the statuettes broken against the marble floor, a few tiles cracked from the impacts. He looked at the back wall, and saw that three statuettes remained. Quinze Krishishima, Nicholas Krensky, and Julius Moriarty. His alter ego was the Supreme Chairman, while he himself was Emperor. He let out a low, gutteral growl, and pulled out his two pistols, pointing them at the wall. His fingers depressed the triggers, letting loose a hail of bullets at the statuettes. They impacted, cracking and breaking the three statuettes. He emptied his clips, and then let his arms down. They felt heavy from use::
"Lord Emperor! We were notified of gunfire! Are you alright?" came a voice over the intercom, the emergency channel being the only one with access.
::Raziel walked over to the intercom, stepping over the remains of Krensky's statuette. He put one gun down on the table, and pressed the reply button::
"I'm fine. Don't worry about it. And don't disturb me," he said, then releasing the button.
::He reloaded a single bullet into the chamber of the pistol, and pointed it straight down. The muzzle flashed as the bullet raced downwards, breaking into the side of Krensky's statuette. The entire marble display shattered. He dropped the gun, and began to walk out of the room. He pushed a few keys on the door, unlocking it, and then walked past. The guards were at the door, rifles at the ready. He waved them back, and slowly walked down the hall::
"I'm going to go see the patient... anyone follows me, I'll rip their throats out..." he muttered, walking solemnly and very hesitantly.
::The walk seemed to take hours, the weight of recent events rested heavily on his back. His posture seemed out of whack, and each foot seemed to weigh a ton. He arrived, and opened the door, then entered. The door hissed shut, and then locked as he pressed the command. He smiled, his features softening for the first time in days. His green eyes met her wintergreen orbs, losing themselves in the stare::
"Hey..."

Ian Wolf emerges from the hotel room being used by Nicolai as his personal quarters
"Bad news from space Janus, L4's just been destroyed and Kazée's severly injured."
The white-haired mercenary responds
"How in the bloody hell did that happen? You couldn't sneak a needle past the border of L4 without ZAFT knowing!"
"Two mirage-colloid equipped ships and nuke-equipped Windams, apparently. Mendel was destroyed, but the Fist of D'Hara self-destructed, and one of those stealth ships was taken out before the Windams could launch. Details beyond that are sketchy."
"But what's wrong with the commander?"
"He feels guilty that he wasn't there to protect Kazée, I guess. He apparently made a promise to himself that he would never again let her be hurt in any way, and he feels like a failure, I suppose. He's practically paralyzed with guilt and worry. We should leave him alone for now"
-Inside Nicolai's temporary quarters-
"I should've been there dammit! I failed Shin again! I FAILED, DAMMIT! Please don't die Kazée, you're one of the few close friends I have now, I can't lead the Angels, I don't even know what to do now! Oh God oh God oh God! Please forgive me, Shin! I shouldn't have headed for Earth with those bastards knocking on ZAFT's door! It should be me there, clinging to life, not you....."
He then breaks down, sobbing and looking at an old picture of the FA, taken just before the Orb Civil War.

The lights were off, but she knew that voice.
The haze of her eyes seemed to lift a bit at the entrance of her beloved.
"....Raziel..."
It was only a whisper. She couldn't manage any louder, really. Her breaths were drawn slowly, but deeply and after a few, she managed to tighten the muscles in her left arm, raising it towards her ruby-crowned lover.
He smiled, approached her and clasped her hand gently, guiding it back to the bed before leaning over to kiss her exposed forehead and sitting back on the edge.
"How you feelin', kiddo?" he wispered, gently massaging the frail hand within his.
She inhaled again, willing some smblance of voice past her dry lips.
"...where am I?" she managed to croak after a moment, coughing a bit afterwards, praying for some moisture to come up into her throat.
"Aprillus One," Raziel replied, cooing gently, "Medical Wing of the Governmental center." He ran his thumb over her knuckles, and stood, coming closer to her face and leaving her hand where it lay. He crouched, his face lit by the soft glow of the display screen above her, reached up behind her head and slid off the oxygen mask, finally allowing her mouth to open. Before she could speak again, a small canteen of water appeared, and Raziel rested the straw just inside the boundaries of her lips.
Eagerness for water bypassed her otherwise weak stance, and she drew a little water inside the dry cavern of her mouth, relishing in the bliss it brought. She swallowed and let the straw go; that little bit was plenty enough for her.
Again she trained tired eyes on tha man, bringing her cheeks into a half- smile.
"ow long 've I been azleep?" was her next inquiry.
"I'm not entirely sure." Raziel said, breakign his gaze and furrowing his brows in thought "You were out when we found you."
"'m not even gonna ask wat 'appened..."
